4. The 211-bed facility is conveniently located on a beautiful 85-acre healthcare campus in west Hattiesburg, along one of the most rapidly expanding retail corridors in Lamar County.
5. We brought minimally invasive surgery to the Pine Belt in 2007, and invested in technology by upgrading the robotic surgical system in 2011. The surgeons are among the most experienced in south Mississippi. The first single-incision gallbladder removal in South Mississippi was performed at Merit Health Wesley in 2012, and the first single-incision hysterectomy in the state was performed at Merit Health Wesley in 2013.
6. In 2020, we expanded our investment in surgical technology to include orthopedic and spine care. By adding robotic assisted surgical systems for knee replacements and spine surgeries, we now offer our patients the opportunity for smaller incisions, increased surgical precision and faster recovery times. In 2021, we expanded further by offering robotic assisted hip replacements.
7. Merit Health Wesley’s 30-Minutes-or-Less ER Service Pledge means that we strive to provide quality emergency care faster for patients of all ages.
8. Merit Health Wesley has been designated by Baby-Friendly® USA as a baby-friendly hospital. This means that mothers receive information that helps them make the best decisions for infant feeding and supports them in achieving personal feeding goals. We also have a Level III NICU to provide specialized care for critically ill or premature newborns.
9. Merit Health Wesley has an onsite fitness center that offers traditional exercise programs to individuals throughout the community, along with cardiac rehabilitation programs and aquatic rehabilitation and food/nutrition training services for patients.
