Hattiesburg - Merit Health Wesley welcomes two new physicians. Jennie Stanford, M.D., practices traditional family medicine, seeing patients both in her clinic and in the hospital. Umar Razzaq, M.D., joins the organization’s hospitalist team.
Originally from Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Stanford earned her Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics at the University of Southern Mississippi. She attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center for medical school and continued her training with the University of Alabama Birmingham’s family medicine residency, where she served as chief resident. Stanford comes to Merit Health from the Laurel Family Clinic.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to help patients treat existing disease and prevent the onset of new ones,” says Stanford. “My unique interests include obesity, nutrition, and full scope primary care. My goal is to treat the whole patient with an individualized approach and to improve the health of our community.”
Stanford’s practice is located at 110 Millsaps Drive, on the campus of Merit Health Wesley. To request an appointment, call (601) 296-2712 or visit WesleyPrimaryCare.com.
Razzaq joins the hospitalist team. He recently graduated from the organization’s internal medicine residency program and has worked with the hospitalist team for 3 years.
“After 3 years of training with the medical staff at Merit Health Wesley, I am honored to now join them in practice,” says Umar Razzaq, M.D. “Hospital medicine often brings us patients in their time of greatest need. I look forward to helping members of our community on their journeys to regaining health and returning home.”
“These physicians bring unique skills and experiences that will make them valuable additions to the Merit Health Wesley team,” said chief executive officer Matthew Banks.
