Merit Health Wesley Recognizes Nurse of the Year

Hattiesburg, MS – Merit Health Wesley recently honored the recipients of the 2019 Nurse of the Year Award and 2019 Patient Choice Award.
Natalie Stringer, R.N., BSN, was named the 2019 Nurse of the Year. Stringer, a Columbia, MS native, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree from William Carey University in 2017 and began her career at Merit Health Wesley as a new graduate. She has been with the hospital serving in the intensive care unit for more than two years.
“Natalie’s commitment to her patients shows through the time and energy she puts into meeting their needs and ensuring they are provided with the best care during their time in the ICU,” says Phebe McKay, chief nursing officer, “She always lends an extra hand if she sees a coworker who needs help.”
Precious Brown, R.N., received the 2019 Patient Choice Award. Brown received her registered nurse (RN) degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College (SMCC) in 2017. She was secretary of her class in 2016 and was a member of the Student Nursing Organization at SMCC. Brown has been a nurse in the emergency room at Merit Health Wesley for more than a year.
“Her dedication to patients is unmatched. Precious always shows kindness and compassion toward her patients making sure they are at ease and as comfortable as possible while receiving care in the Emergency Department”, says Chris Dunaway, RN, Director of Emergency Services.
