12/14/2016
Merit Health Wesley has proudly named Misty Dickerson, RN, as the 2016 recipient of the Margaret LaFon Employee of the Year Award.
The Board of Trustees of Merit Health Wesley inaugurated the Margaret LaFon Employee of the Year Award in 2012 to be presented annually to an employee as recognition for their outstanding work and service. The award honors the late Margaret LaFon, RN, who lost her courageous battle with cancer in July of 2012 at age 58.
Dickerson serves as Clinical Coordinator for Merit Health Wesley’s Work Well department and is responsible for overseeing Work Well’s clinical operations, mobile healthcare program and community partnerships. She has worked at Merit Health Wesley for 13 years and holds a long list of certifications in the occupational medicine field.
“Misty plays a critical role in meeting the needs of area businesses as they navigate through health regulations,” said Ron Cain, Vice President of Physician Services. “She ensures that they have the latest information on safe work environments, that they have resources to meet these regulations, and that should an injury occur, they have the assurance of excellent care from someone knowledgeable of their work force.”
The hospital also named Clinical Manager of the Year, Britton Mathis, RN.
Mathis serves as the Director of Critical Care where she oversees the hospital’s two critical care areas. She has worked at Merit Health Wesley for four years.
“Britton makes being a leader look easy,” said Phebe McKay, Chief Nursing Officer. “She has created an environment that is open and supportive for patients and their families as well as for staff.”
Non-Clinical Manager of the Year was awarded to Susan Babineaux, RN, MSN, CCRN. Babineaux is the Director of Quality Management where she manages the hospital’s quality operations and performance improvement initiatives. She has worked at Merit Health Wesley for three years.
“With a passion for seeing that our patients receive excellent care, Susan’s commitment and relentless drive to ensure the highest quality of care shows through in every aspect of her job,” said Debbie Johnson, Vice President of Quality and Clinical Transformation. “From leading her team by example, to facilitating process redesign, she is skillful, thoughtful and internally driven.”
Merit Health Wesley congratulates these worthy award winners for their service to the hospital and community.
